The blade is crafted from premium MagnaCut steel, heat treated to a high hardness of approximately 63–64 HRC. This ensures exceptional edge retention, outstanding corrosion resistance, and excellent toughness, making it well-suited for both everyday carry and demanding cutting tasks. The hollow grind, performed in-house at McNees Knives, provides a keen edge geometry that slices efficiently while retaining strength near the spine. The titanium handle is where the Shockwave truly earns its name. Both the show side and lock side feature detailed milling patterns, adding grip, reducing weight, and giving the knife a distinctive, high-end aesthetic. On base models, subtle micro-milling lines enhance texture, though these lines are more understated on black-finished versions.
